Breast Implant Exchange

Many women in the past had breast implants placed in a sub-glandular rather than a sub-muscular position. This type of procedure is quicker and has a less painful post-operative course than placing the implants beneath the muscle. They often look great immediately after the operation BUT they can quickly come to look far worse than if they were placed beneath the muscle. Being under the skin and breast gland (which is usually quite small) they can often be seen and more easily felt. They also tend to show rippling, especially if a saline implant is used. Over time they tend to sag more as well.

Why? Because you are asking the supportive ligaments (Cooper's ligaments) of the breast to do more work than they are capable of. This leads to a sagging, ripple prone breast shape.

The solution is to move the implants to a sub-muscular position. Replacing the implants with the new memory gel type also leads to a softer, more natural appearing breast that, with the additional support offered by the muscle, will maintain their shape far longer.
